This will include things like what type of rug you have, which areas are the dirtiest, how the floors are used, and much more. For example, we may take a different approach when working on an antique area rug than we would a standard carpet. In addition, we will look at carpets in an area where dogs regularly come in and out of the home differently than in an area with no pets. In almost all situations it is best to identify the problem areas on a rug or carpet and start there. This means looking for any stains, spots, and smells that may be present. By starting with these areas, we can make sure that they look the way they should before we go over the entire area. Focusing on High Traffic Areas

Even if an entire carpet or rug looks about the same to the eye, it is almost certain that some areas will be more heavily soiled than others. The places where people or pets walk through, for example, are going to be dirtier than places that don't get much traffic. Much of the dirt and other contaminants in a carpet can get pushed deep into the fibers where they actually can't be seen. While there, however, they can cause friction at the base of the rug or carpet, which can be damaging.
