Our Carpet Cleaning Process

Cleaning a carpet or rug requires much more than just running a vacuum over it each day (though that is certainly important). In most situations, it is best to have your carpets or rugs deep cleaned every 12-18 months to remove the dirt, debris, and other things that work their way deep into the fibers of the flooring. When having this done, it is important to ensure it is done correctly to get the results you need. We have developed our carpet cleaning process over the years, always making sure that our clients get the best possible results. This page provides some key points about this process. If you have any questions about it, or you would like to schedule an appointment with us, please give us a call at 718-840-3585.

Customized for Your Rugs

Every job we take on is a little different. When we are planning out the work we will do for you, we'll customize our approach based on a number of factors. This will include things like what type of rug you have, which areas are the dirtiest, how the floors are used, and much more. For example, we may take a different approach when working on an antique area rug than we would a standard carpet. In addition, we will look at carpets in an area where dogs regularly come in and out of the home differently than in an area with no pets. This information will help us to ensure you get the results you are looking for.

Finding Stains & Smells First

In almost all situations it is best to identify the problem areas on a rug or carpet and start there. This means looking for any stains, spots, and smells that may be present. By starting with these areas, we can make sure that they look the way they should before we go over the entire area. In addition, it is often necessary to use specialized products or techniques to get smells and stains out of carpet.

Focusing on High Traffic Areas

Even if an entire carpet or rug looks about the same to the eye, it is almost certain that some areas will be more heavily soiled than others. The places where people or pets walk through, for example, are going to be dirtier than places that don't get much traffic. Much of the dirt and other contaminants in a carpet can get pushed deep into the fibers where they actually can't be seen. While there, however, they can cause friction at the base of the rug or carpet, which can be damaging. For this reason, we will take special care to ensure high traffic areas are cleaned completely on every job.
